The project reinterprets the traditional urban fabric, which is characterized by high building density, frequent connections, and a non-orthogonal street network—creating numerous visual links and making each part of the city unique. The design thus follows traditional local urban principles.
The master plan is based on three practical ideas that we consider key for this site:
Formation of a defined street frontage by the building layout;
Delimitation of space into collective (courtyards) and public (streets, park) zones;
Orientation of the buildings perpendicular to the slope, which minimizes earthworks and increases landslide stability.
The cascading building layout is implemented without retaining walls; instead, the monolithic volume of the underground parking structures holds the slope, fulfilling this function.
All buildings are of medium height and composed of modular sections with a high degree of standardization. Each section consists of two identical halves, with one rotated 180 degrees relative to the other. A stair-lift core is located between these two halves.
All apartments are compact and geometrically efficient. A large number of external corners in the floor plans enhance comfort, improve daylight access, and create additional views to the outside. Each apartment has a summer room—either a loggia or a terrace on the ground floor.
